Letters to a River
BC, Canada

Letters to a River connects to the larger watersheds and ecosystems of the area, speaking to the fluvial interrelationships of the natural world and our place within it, of how our networks of belonging run parallel to our sense of belonging with nature.
This integrated public artwork for a new light rail transit station that speaks to our understanding of place, and to our hope for a closer connection to the natural world. Comprised of nine colourful folded ‘boats’ appearing to float above the stairs and escalators on each side of the station, and complemented by a series of unfolded handwritten ‘notes’ on the walls, the art envelopes those passing through the station.
